To apply for an 1800 number, it is necessary that you use it for business purposes. It is not possible to apply for an 1800 number for personal use, as it is intended for companies to allow customers to call for free. I also sometimes see short 1800 numbers with 4 digits behind the 1800. How is this possible?

In the number plan there is a short information number and a long information number. A short information number has a length of 4 after the area code, such as 1800-4030. A long information number has a length of 7 after the area code, such as 1800-4000400. If you want to request a short number, please contact us because there are special requirements from the Consumer and Market Authority: these may only be issued to organizations that expect more than 2000 minutes per month. There is a shortage of short information numbers, so they are more intended for radio, TV and emergency services.

1800 service numbers work with any online telephone exchange: it is a virtual telephone number that we forward to your ‘real’ number.
