Activate an Area Code Routing
With Area Code Routing, incoming calls are forwarded based on — as the name suggests — the caller’s area code.
If you have set up Area Code Routing, the caller is automatically connected to your nearest branch or employee without the caller having to do anything or even noticing.
When to Use Area Code Routing
Area Code Routing is ideal when you have multiple branches spread across the country and want callers to always be automatically connected to their nearest branch or employee.
A good example is an organization with branches or departments in all major cities. With one number, the entire organization is perfectly reachable, and by using Area Code Routing, callers are automatically connected to the branch in their region.
If you have multiple branches within one region, Postcode Routing might be a good solution for you.
Difference from Postcode Routing
The difference with the Postcode Routing feature is that with Postcode Routing, the forwarding is based on the first four digits of the caller’s postcode. The caller must first enter these digits, after which the call is forwarded.
A major advantage of Postcode Routing is that you can always connect callers to the nearest branch, even if you have multiple branches within one region.
Activate Area Code Routing
As a Belfabriek customer, enabling Area Code Routing is extremely simple.
You can do this online via our My Belfabriek dashboard or via the Belfabriek app for iOS and Android.
On the Number Settings page, scroll down until you see the Area Code Routing option. You can easily enable or disable this option with the on/off switch.

Enable Area Code Routing via My Belfabriek
One of our staff members will contact you to review the routing with you. You can also fill out this Excel sheet yourself, indicating which area codes should be forwarded to which phone numbers. You do this once and then don’t have to worry about it anymore.
The caller is then automatically forwarded to the correct branch or employee.
